(Please register by Monday, 16th January 2012) Target Audience: Parents & Caregivers of children with Disabilities (minimum riding age for children is 6 years and above)Seats are limited to 10 persons only. Venue: RDA Centre, 5 Jalan Mashhor, Singapore 299174 (own transportation) | | | Synopsis of Talk: RDA provides free therapeutic horse-riding programmes that benefit people with physical, intellectual and learning disabilities in Singapore. The therapeutic benefits of riding a horse include improving the posture, muscle tone, balance, coordination and respiration of the rider. People with disabilities also gain increased self-esteem and confidence through riding with RDA. Additional information: Attendees will get the opportunity to observe first-hand a riding session in progress. The mother of a rider with Down syndrome will also be present to share her experience on how riding with RDA has benefitted her daughter. Speaker's Profile Ms Gan Meng Meng is the Executive Director of RDA and has more than ten years of experience working in the social service sector. Her background is in Mathematics and Accounting and she has also worked in the educational publishing industry for about 8 years. Ms Gan's passion to work with people with disabilities stems from her own personal congenital visual impairment, a condition that she has lived with all her life. | | | | | |
